The name "Fajalauza" is derived from the Arabic words "fahja" meaning ceramic, and "luza" meaning light, highlighting the luminous quality of the pottery. This style of pottery reflects the fusion of Moorish and Spanish artistic influences, with its intricate designs reminiscent of Islamic art but also incorporating elements of Spanish decorative traditions. Fajalauza pottery is traditionally handmade using techniques that have been passed down through generations of artisans, and are often used as decorative pieces in Andalusian homes.
