Albert Park Residence

Once owned by a very flamboyant Australian Fashion Designer, who was not afraid of miles of brass and acres of heavy velvet, this project first required careful editing of light fittings, carpets and colours schemes to restore an elegant feel. Our brief was to redecorate the interiors of this significant house overlooking the water, to show on one hand an extensive collection of contemporary art work and mid century furniture yet sparing some spaces for more formal entertaining.

Bespoke hand made carpets and stair runners throughout the house were selected to withstand an army of young boys. The formal sitting room colour scheme of pink was settled upon after many years of our client enjoying the Beverley Hills Hotel on trips to LA. Comfortable furniture was selected so the sitting room could be used and enjoyed not only for formal gatherings but for the whole family everyday. A special commission of brass curtain tie backs by Suzie Stanford, gently hold the ivory silk curtains away from the windows looking out to Port Phillip Bay, featuring marine creatures, a whimsical nod to the ocean for our keen surfing client and his tribe.
